Support Addlestone Canoe Club

Addlestone Canoe Club (ACC) is a registered charity with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Charity Number: 1158049).

Run entirely by volunteers, the club is dedicated to promoting paddlesport, outdoor recreation and community wellbeing for people of all ages and abilities.

Everything we do – from coaching and safety to maintaining our facilities – is made possible by people giving their time freely to support the club and the wider community.

Why we fundraise

As a charity, we rely on donations and grants to continue our work.

We provide opportunities for people to get involved in canoeing and kayaking – helping to improve:

  • physical health;
  • mental wellbeing;
  • confidence; and
  • water safety skills

We also support the local environment, working with community groups to protect waterways, and remove litter, and invasive species such as Floating Pennywort.

How the Charity Makes a Difference

Our work focuses on promoting community participation in healthy recreation through paddlesport.

We provide:

  • education and training;
  • amateur sport opportunities; and
  • recreational activities

for:

  • children and young people;
  • people with disabilities;
  • other charities and voluntary groups; and
  • the general public.

The club owns its clubhouse and boat shed and maintains a fleet of kayaks, canoes, and safety equipment.

Our Clubhouse & Future

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we now have a modern, purpose-built clubhouse – a welcoming space for members, training and community activity.

This was made possible through donations and funding from organisations including:

  • Runnymede Borough Council
  • London Marathon Foundation
  • SportsAid
  • Other local charitable supporters

To complete this project, the club secured funding and currently has an outstanding loan of £150,000, which we are working to repay over the 15 years.

Recognised for Our Volunteers

We are incredibly proud to have received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to volunteer groups in the UK.

This recognises the dedication and impact of everyone who contributes to the club.
